Population in the Barossa and Light region is set to soar, with figures indicating the region is estimated to grow by over 6,000 by the year 2021.
The Barossa and Light Regional Development Board (BLD) provided “The Leader” with a copy of their Regional Profile for Barossa and Light, 2008 at their recent Sustainable Futures Forum, containing projected population growth figures from the 2006 census.
Figures estimate 18.6 per cent more people will reside in the region by 2021 and the region’s population is set to grow at a significantly higher rate than the State average.
CEO of the BLD, Mrs Anne Moroney said growth in the region is undeniable; however it comes back to how it is managed.
“There is certainly room for growth in Nuriootpa and Angaston,” Mrs Moroney said.
“Roseworthy and Freeling are seen potentially as growth areas.
