Menge Road re-zone plan

Menge Road could soon host a new housing estate in Tanunda if a proposal to re-zone land is approved.

The Barossa Council has released the draft Tanunda East Development Plan Amendment (DPA) for public consultation.

Twenty locals attended an information meeting on Monday night to ask questions about the plan, which concerns 44 hectares between the railway line, Magnolia Road, Basedow Road and Menge Road.

The public has until July 9 to make written submissions to Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr David Morcom about the proposition to re-zone the land from rural (valley floor) to residential.

The DPA outlined plans to build two housing estates with a total of 340 residential allotments on either side of land occupied by the Illaparra Winery warehouse and a winery wastewater treatment plant if re-zoning were approved.

The DPA was funded by developers, C. R. Lindner Nominees Pty. Ltd. and Vintage Real Estate Pty. Ltd., who are trading as Barossa Land Developments.

Tanunda developer, Mr Carl Lindner already owns one section of the land that could be developed into a housing estate if the re-zoning went ahead.
