The Barossa Council will assume full financial and management responsibility for the Barossa Visitor Information Centre from January 1.
The Centre, located in Murray Street Tanunda, has been managed for the past 10 years by the Barossa Wine and Tourism Association.
Mr Peter Schulz, the current Chairman of the BWTA said recent positive changes in the regional wine and tourism structure has meant that the BWTA no longer has the same pivotal role in delivering services to wine and tourism operators.
“This year we achieved the successful formation of the Barossa Grape and Wine Association and Barossa Tourism Incorporated,” Mr Schulz said.
“Both of these new organisations have already begun to successfully deliver services to their respective industries, effectively making the primary role of the BWTA redundant.”
